NJ/NY Gotham FC have signed forward Ifeoma Onumonu to a new three-year NWSL contract through 2026, the club announced Tuesday.

Onumonu, 28, has developed into a fan favorite attacker who is valued on and off the field. A leader in the Black Women's Players collective Ifeoma has appeared in 57 matches and has scored 11 goals.

“I’m really excited to sign on long-term with Gotham FC!” said Onumonu. “It’s been a journey already with this club and I’m looking forward to many more years competing to be the best team in the NWSL. The club and community around me has truly made me feel valued as a player. Although this past year has been a difficult one, the fans never left our side. I’m happy to be fighting for this club and excited about what we’ll be able to accomplish together.”

Ifeoma is looking at a big year in 2023 not only for her club but for her home nation of Nigeria as they will enter their 9th consecutive world cup. She will undoubtedly be leading the line for the Super Falcons.

Onumonu is a traditional number 9. The 5'10 striker is a weapon who can stretch defenses and get behind a high line. She can also hold the ball up and occupy multiple defenders.
