Gotham FC comes home and faces Portland thorns on Sunday at 3pm. Here are some keys to the game.
Rematch:
Gotham took the ultra talented thorns to penalty kicks in the challenge cup final. They deserves to be there and proved it through 90 and storage time. Even though Gotham would ultimately lose this was an arrival party. Gotham belongs in the conversation of best team in the NWSL. They can go toe to toe with anyone. I'm sure Gotham needs no extra motivation for this matchup of unfinished business.
Streaky:
On one side you have Gotham who has yet to give up a goal in the regular season posting back to back shut outs. Can gotham's bend but not break backline pitch another clean sheet?
On the other side of Portland who despite their talent level has not shown up in the regular season so far. Already losing twice in a weekend tussle with rival OL reign and again in mid-week things aren't looking up for the thorns. Can Gotham extend the losing streak for Portland thorns?
A night without stars:
With 5 players on Portland and 2 on Gotham getting called into national team one wonders how many of these players we are going to see Sunday at RBA?
All I know is it is going to be a fantastic game. See you all there!!
