We will show our twitter poll results and then Ruby and Gary will give their picks.

5 Categories. Defender, Attacker, Midfielder, Unsung hero, and team MVP. Let’s get to it!

Defender of the season.

Twitter results: Dydasco 74%

Ruby: [Dydasco] I totally agree she has been NWSL player of the month 3 times in a row. She is the most consistent player in the team.

Gary: Yeah, it’s Dydasco. I’m going to read off a couple names. Horan, Brian, Marta, Purce, Mewis, Pugh, Rodman, Daly, Fishlock. What do they have in common? Other than being incredible soccer players. They all finished below Caprice in the Fotmob player ratings. The only defender in the top ten. Coming off a third ACL reconstructive surgery. Just amazing! #caprice4nwslMVP

Attacker of the season.

Twitter result: Midge Purce 55%

Ruby: This one is hard because they both [ Onumonu and Purce] are incredible. Midge Purce closed out her season with 9 goals but when Midge was out Ify stepped up.

Gary: I got Ify. She put this team on her back when she had no help. Purce was hurt. Lloyd was off with the National team. Played in every game. Scored late goals in the middle of the season saving points. No way we aren’t where we are without her. And even now. She’s doing all the dirty work so that Purce and Lloyd can get theirs. She might be my MVP.

Midfielder of the season.

Twitter results: Long 62%

Ruby: Allie Long – And I’m going to refer to my stats.

Gary: It’s Long. I’ll be honest here. I didn’t rate Long that high for a while. I saw her on the national team but for some reason she never really jumped out to me. That was until I got to see her play in person at RBA with Seattle. She absolutely dictated the game. The tempo. Where the game was being played. Took smart fouls on both sides of the ball and was masterful. I walked away super impressed. When I heard, she was traded to us I got super excited. I thought she fit Freya’s system to a T. Was not proven wrong. 91 percent completion percentage. Everything Gotham does is through her. Incredible season.

Unsung hero of the season.

Twitter result: Haracic 49%

Ruby: Gina Lewandoski – I don’t think she gets enough praise.

Gary: This one was the toughest to come up with. There is so many players who had solid seasons. But it’s Didi for me. Stepped up big time when we needed her.

MVP!

Twitter result: Dydasco 50%

Ruby: Okay it’s getting tough. Many of the players did an amazing job this season but Dydasco is the MVP.

Gary: I’m seriously still not sure. For me it’s Ify and Dydasco. It’s a coin flip for me. I’m just going to give it to Ify. For what we talked about earlier. She really put the team on her back when it was needed. She scored some bangers when this team was not firing at all on its cylinders. I still think Caprice deserves the league’s MVP. But for this team. I’m going Onumonu.
