NJ/NY Gotham FC has announced that it has traded outside back Caprice Dydasco to the Houston Dash. Included in the trade is the exchange of 120k in allocation money.
Caprice Dydasco was acquired by Sky Blue from the Washington Spirit in 2019 in a trade that also brought Didi Haracic and Estelle Johnson. All three players made impacts on the first team.
Caprice made an immediate impact on the field and was a large veteran presence in the locker room leadership. Caprice appeared in every match and started all but 1 match since joining the team. An impressive feat for a player who suffered through multiple ACL tears in the past. She ends her time with the club with 5 assists and a 1 goal.
An attacking minded defender, Caprice had a career year in 2021 for Gotham. Earning 5 NWSL “Player of the Month” appearances. She went on to win the NWSL “Defender of the Year” and named to the NWSL “Best XI”. Was also nominated for an ESPY for “Best NWSL Player”.
Caprice also made an impact off the field, quickly becoming a fan favorite. She was usually the first player signing autographs and pose for selfies with the fans after games. She was a regular in the team’s community building efforts and a representative for the AAPI community for the league.
We at Soccer Over Gotham, wish Caprice Dydasco the best in everything going forward. She embodied everything you want to believe about professional soccer players and a true role model for young players everywhere. #oncegotham
