NJ/NY Gotham FC agreed to part ways with head coach Scott Parkinson on Thursday August 11th, 2022. Gotham FC made the change after losing 6 of their last 7 matches. 5 of those 6 by multiple goals.

Becki Tweed and Bev Yanez will share interim duties after serving as assistant coaches respectively. Becki Tweed is the longer tenured coach, having been an assistant coach for former coach Freya Coombe. This is Bev Yanez's first season as interim coach as she was hired along side Parkinson. Becki Tweed assumed head coaching duties for one match previously.

Parkinson joined Gotham FC on August 31st, 2021.Two days after Freya Coombe left Gotham to assume duties with expansion side Angel City. Parkinson led Gotham FC to their first playoff appearance since former club Sky Blue FC reached the playoffs in 2013. Gotham went undefeated under Parkinson in 2021 until losing in the first round of playoffs to Parkinson's former club Chicago Red Stars.

In 2022, Gotham FC went 1-1-1 in the preseason Challenge Cup. Gotham FC is currently in 11th place (4-0-8) which can only be described as well below expectations for a roster filled with top talent and high aspirations to return to the playoffs and make a run at a title. There are 10 games remaining in the season for Gotham.

Statement from GM Yael Averbuch West:

We at Soccer Over Gotham wish Coach Parkinson well in all his future endeavors.
