About Hensley Hancuff:

6’3 Clemson Goalkeeper from Edmond, OK. Third team all ACC with 1.0 goals against average. Clemson went 11-5-1 with Hensley in net.

Last time Gotham FC, then Sky Blue FC drafted a keeper from Clemson, they turned out to be one of the best in the world. Hopefully the trend continues. The only thing that stands taller than her frame is her reputation as a good human being. Everyone we spoke to about Hensley can’t hold back their admiration for her as a person and player.

Expectations: Will most likely enter the season as Gotham FC’s third keeper on roster. Teams usually carry more than two keepers (Gotham had 4 last season). Expect another keeper to be added to roster to fill the backup role to Harris while Hensley gets up to speed. As a player who worked with Harris in the past, this is an ideal opportunity for her to grow as a player and a person. A bit of a project who has all the tools and physical ability to be a future star. Should have time to learn and grow at Gotham FC.

Quotes:

Exclusive: We reached out to Clemson Head Coach Eddie Radwanski for his thoughts on Hensley joining Gotham: "Hensley being drafted by Gotham was a dream come true. What an incredible moment to realize all the hard work, time and commitment you invested over the years paid off! Gotham did their homework, and they are not only getting an outstanding goalkeeper but an incredible teammate! Hensley wants to win and is all about the team and being a part of the family. Scott and the Gotham staff are the perfect fit for Hensley. They are familiar with our culture at Clemson and know not only the player they are getting but the person as well. Our training environment at Clemson provides players the platform to be ready for the NWSL."

Scott Parkinson on Hensley Hancuff:

“Hensley is a fierce competitor and wonderful human. She’s improved our club already in six weeks of being here. Seeing her grind and compete everyday with Ashlyn (Harris) and Michelle (Betos) has been a joy to watch."

More from Parkinson on Hancuff: "We feel we have special talent on our hands and are excited to see her blossom and develop into a top goalkeeper in our league.”
