Game Preview Gotham FC vs Racing Louisville

Updated: Dec 1, 2022

Listen to our latest interview with Gotham FC captain McCall Zerboni here:

Following last week's postponed game, Gotham FC (1-0-1, 3pts.) returns home to Red Bull Arena in Harrison, NJ to take on Racing Louisville (1-2-1, 5pts.) on Sunday May 22nd in a redo of their home opener. Kickoff set for 5pm eastern. Streaming on Paramount +

Here is everything you need to know about this matchup:

"Searching for a winner"

Gotham FC and Racing Louisville have played 4 times in their history and drew 4 times. 3 of those games coming at Red Bull Arena. The first matchup was a 0-0 draw and the last three have been 1-1 draws. Gotham has not won in their past 3 home games. Both teams are ranked high in goals scored per match (Gotham 1.5 (2nd) and Racing 1.3 (4th). Racing is also 1st in big chances created. Expect fireworks as Gotham and Racing try to be the first team to get a win in this matchup.

"Going to be a hot one"

Temperature at kickoff will be 90 plus. There is a scattered thunderstorm warning in the forecast as well. Hopefully the threat of rain cools off the night. Make sure you come early and join the Cloud 9 tailgate in the parking lot and make friends. Usually starts 4 hours before kickoff and ends an hour before game time. Follow @Cloud9GOTH on twitter for more details.

"Matchup of the game"

Cece Kizer VS McCall Zerboni. Cece leads the league (1st) in big chances created (2) from the attacking midfield position. Jessica McDonald is 4th all time on the NWSL scoring list. A big body who can beat you in the air or by getting to the spot first. Jessica can be feast or famine depending on service and rarely creates on her own. By McCall shutting down Kizer's ability to play forward or get into dangerous spots could go a long way into Gotham's getting their first win of the series.

"Just show up"

Gotham FC is going all out for this redo of a home opener. The "Rep Your State" promo has carried over to this one. Cloud9Goth will be bringing one of their award winning Tifos and also bringing the fun-loud noise. Be prepared for an electric atmosphere that only Red Bull Arena can provide. No excuses. Get to this game!

"Injury list"

As of writing this, it looks as though no Gotham players are under Covid protocols. The injury list only contains,

Out: Long (maternity).

Questionable: Flores (right knee) and Ali Kreiger (illness).

This can change. Look for an updated injury list to drop late tonight or early tomorrow.

Expected Line-up

Let's! Go! Gotham!
